The quintessential story of family and friendship in a unique Southern sisterhood, Steel Magnolias is a skillfully crafted portrayal of eccentricity, loyalty and love set in a small-town beauty parlor. The title suggests that although they appear delicate as magnolias, the main female characters are tough as steel. Set in the intimate venue of A.J. Fletcher Theater, this humorously revealing play will take you on an emotional journey filled with laughter and tears.

Beth Leavel (M'Lynn) recently performed the role of the much put upon maid, Berthe, in BOEING-BOEING at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Beth received Tony, Drama Desk, NY Outer Critics Circle and L.A. Drama Critics Awards for her performance as the title character in The Drowsy Chaperone. Other Broadway roles include Florence Greenberg in Baby It’s You (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critic’s Circle nominations), Emily in Elf, Donna in Mamma Mia!, Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein, Dorothy Brock in the revival of 42nd Street, Tess in the original company of Crazy For You, Mrs. Bixby in The Civil War, Ellie in Hal Prince's Showboat, and Anytime Annie (her Broadway debut) in 42nd Street. Ms. Leavel was also seen in New York City Center Encores! production of No, No, Nanette as Lucille. Numerous Off-Broadway, commercials, TV, and regional theatre. MFA from UNC-G. Other favorite credits include: Amelia Earhart in TAKE FLIGHT (McCarter), Peter Pan in PETER PAN (Stephen Sondheim PAC), Daisy in SIDESHOW (Kennedy Center), Hedda Hopper in the Broadway-bound BECOMING CHAPLIN (La Jolla Playhouse), Kiki in KIKI BABY (Outstanding Individual Performance Award, NYMF). Toured in National Companies of, Promises Promises and the International Company of, 42ND ST. T.V. Credits include many Day Time Soaps including Search For Tomorrow Dr. Lambert, Law & Order Mrs. Bickerson and soon to be released pilot, Middle Ages. Regional Credits: World Premier, I Loved Lucy playing Lucille Ball, The Spitfire Grill, Dear World, Mame, The Full Monty, Funny Girl, Annie, Hello Dolly, Nunsense to name a few!!!
