North Carolina Theatre Brings Professional Workshops Into the Schools and Community
Stage2School Outreach Program brings local and New York actors, technicians, musicians and dancers into the Triangle schools and community through a series of workshops. Each workshop is catered to the needs of the teacher or leader.

Theatre4Change
- What: Launched in 2007 at the Boys and Girls Club of Wake Forest, NC, the mission is to use theatre games, exercises, role-playing tactics and processing to heighten awareness and encourage individual change in conflict situations
- How It Works: Professional actors and a moderator will bring a one-hour, in-class workshop to your school.
- Target Age Group: 4th through 6th grade students
Broadway Connections
- What: an informal series of discussion sessions with some of the top professionals in musical theatre from New York and around the country
- How It Works: Attend Target Student Preview Night, then New York City and Broadway actors, directors, musicians and technicians working with North Carolina Theatre during one of their Broadway productions will come into the schools for a one-hour, in-class workshop to discuss the business of theatre.
- Target Age Group: High school students
Development Stage
- What: Invaluable, constructive feedback from a North Carolina Theatre professional who viewed your school's production.
- How It Works: Request a North Carolina Theatre professional to attend your school production. They will view the performance and provide immediate feedback
- Target Age Group: Middle to high school students
The Musical's The Thing, Sponsored by Target
- What: This series accompanies North Carolina Theatre's stage productions and provides an in-depth discussion on the show's themes, ideas and creative aspects.
- How It Works: Attend Target Student Preview Night or take advantage of North Carolina Theatre's Student Rush Program. Then discuss and explore themes in the performance in a one-hour, in-class workshop.
- Target Age Group: Middle to high school students
- Extras: Study guide and discussion questions included
Class Connection
- What: Choose what you want to learn with either a dance, acting or vocal master class.
- How It Works: A North Carolina Theatre professional artist will conduct a one-hour workshop or multi-hour residency at your school
- Target Age Group: Elementary to high school students
- Pricing: All program prices vary, usually requiring only a small stipend. Fees are kept to a minimum due to generous corporate and private support.

All Stage2School programs are directed by Heather Patterson King, a member of Actors' Equity Association and the Director of Outreach for North Carolina Theatre. Stage2School workshops are led by National, New York and local theatre professionals and musicians whose credits include Broadway, National Tours and regional theatre work.
