Capital Awards: Recipients
 
 
The North Carolina Theatre is thrilled to announce the winners of its first ever Capital Awards program held on Monday, May 21 at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The Capital Awards ceremony was a huge success in its inaugural year, receiving rave reviews from students, teachers, parents and audience members alike. With local and national celebrities in attendance, the Capital Awards honored participating high schools in 16 musical theatre categories, celebrating musical theatre excellence and the shared passion each student demonstrates. The audience enjoyed high caliber performances from the five schools nominated for Outstanding Musical, as well as a high-energy musical number performed by the Leading Actor and Leading Actress nominees. The evening ended with a spectacular all-school finale, “Eyes on the Goal,” that was arranged by Michael Moricz and choreographed by Michael Tapley.
